"Equity for Artists" Compensation Plan
Prime Stage Theatre is rolling out a brand new compensation model for cast and crew members for the 2010-2011 season called "Equity for Artists". The program is designed to accomplish two primary objectives. First is to provide those cast and crew members who are only compensated for each show they work on a means of dramatically increasing their income for each production. The second objective is to increase attendance at our public performances. Here's how it works:
Each cast/crew member is entitled to receive 50% of the price paid for any ticket to a public performance (matinees for schools aren't included) that can directly be attributed to their active promotion of the production. Before each public performance the cast/crew member will be required to submit a list of names to the box office of those whom they have personally invited or encouraged to attend. When that individual comes to the theatre for that performance and checks in with the box office, they will need to identify themselves and the cast/crew member so that they can be credited with the ticket purchase. If, for example, the ticket price paid is $20, the cast/crew member will receive $10, over and above their contracted salary.
Our hope is to instill a strong sense of ownership--"equity", you might say--in those artists that only work with us sporadically. Further, we'd like to think that we can make some new friends by attracting new audience members. In the end, it's a win-win-win for everyone, cast/crew member, audience member and Prime Stage Theatre alike.
