The Princess Party

It's funny how one ideas can spark so much joy. 1Hood Media Academy student, ten year old Jannah Johari had the thought of producing a Princess Party to celebrate the amazingness that is little Black girls. In July of 2015, we helped bring that thought to life. The weather was amazing, the energy was beautiful, and girls were turnt...or shall we say super excited! In this video, shot and edited by Pittsburgh filmmaker/photographer/artist Brennan Alexis for The City of Asylum our collaborators in this effort along with The Kelly Stayhorn Theater, you will see the party in its entirety. Notice the joy on these little girls face. Notice the smiles on the mommies and the peace on the grandmothers! Please take a look at the video...bookmark it...it is sure to make you smile! The Princess Party was hosted by Jannah Johari and the keynote address was given by young entrepenuer Leah Baker Fowler.
